Dr Sae Ochi is the director of internal medicine at Soma Central Hospital. She also sits as an external lecturer at Seisa University and a visiting researcher at the first department of internal medicine at the University of Occupation and Environmental Health. She holds an undergraduate medical degree (MD) and PhD in medical science from Tokyo Medical and Dental University and master of public health (MPH) from Imperial College, London School of Public Health. She also holds a Board Certified Rheumatologist Degree by the Japanese College of Rheumatology and a Qualified Sports Doctor certificate by the Japanese Sports Association (JASA). Her research focus on disaster public health, especially on how a disasters impact health and healthcare system in the affected area. During her internship at the World Health Organization, she contributed to the revision of “Hospital Safety Index: Guide for Evaluators” published in 2015. Since 2013, she as been working at Soma Central Hospital as a rheumatologist as well as a public health researcher and conducting research on health problems caused by the nuclear accident.
