Captain Tetsuro Kiyozumi is a Professor and the Chairman of the Department of Defense Medicine, National Defense Medical College (NDMC). He graduated from NDMC in 1992 and received a PhD in medicine from NDMC in 2006. His specialties are Emergency Medicine, Traumatology, Burn, Disaster Medicine, Emergency Medical Systems and Medical education. As a JMSDF medical officer, his military career began at the Kanoya Naval Air Base in 1994 and he served as Fleet Surgeon of the Self Defense Fleet, Deputy Director of Logistic,/Joint Staff Office, Commanding Officer of the JSDF Hospital, Ohminato, before he was assigned to the position as a professor of NDMC. He also served in 3 over seas missions, a Peace Keeping Operation in Golan Heights, a Deployment Fleet to the Indian Ocean and an Anti-piracy Force in the Gulf of Aden.
