Dr. Yamaguchi is currently a Professor and Chairman of the Department of Trauma and Critical Care Medicine of Kyorin University in Tokyo, Japan. He started his medical career at Kagawa University in 1986. He moved to the Department of Surgery at Harvard University in 1995 and joined Kyorin University in 1998. He treated three severe irradiated patients of the Tokai-mura accident in 1999. He played a leading role in support for the Hyper-Rescue Team of the Tokyo Fire Department as an expert regarding radiation emergency medicine for the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant accident in 2011. He is now the Disaster Medical Coordinator of The Tokyo Government as well as the Chairman of the administration Councils of Tokyo Disaster Medical Assistant Team (Tokyo DMAT).
